High Impact Week with Rhythm Future Quartet

The members of Rhythm Future Quartet spent two days in Helena before their concert at The Myrna Loy, teaching and playing for a variety of groups throughout the community.

Helena Youth Orchestra members enjoyed an evening experiencing a master class in Gypsy Jazz, trying their hands at improvising, and learning a bit about Django Reinhardt and the history of the genre.

Students at Shodair Children’s Hospital attended a mini-concert, and were incredibly excited to ask the musicians questions about their lives as professional artists, and to challenge the group to play songs outside their standard repertoire. They requested music by The Beatles and Queen and the artists rose to the occasion, delighting their audience.

“What a success that was! That’s the most rousing reaction we’ve seen from this group of students!”  Shodair Teacher

The band’s final visit was to Touchmark Senior Living, where the residents always love to listen and engage with our visiting artists.

“Music is so impactful. We brought 10 of our memory care residents who are living with dementia/Alzheimer’s and on the first song they began to clap, tap toes, smile, sing, and become engaged.” Nanette Holmes, Life Enrichment Director
