Helena painter Dale Beckman’s intuitive paintings combine a textured surface with a poured paint technique to create non-objective pattern fields that offer an invitation to explore inner space.
“I start my process with a textured and distressed surface,” Beckman says. “After painting the surface area I work with the hydrodynamic instabilities of mixed paint colors with different viscosities. The density mismatch is unstable and will often lead to interesting and visually pleasing flow patterns.
