Commissioned by The Myrna Loy, taiko drumming ensemble Unit Souzou is creating a one-of-a-kind performance on Otherness. Drawing inspiration from the Helena community, “A Constant State of Otherness” explores the experience of home, movement, migration, immigration, belonging, and kinship.
They embed in Helena for a week-long residency collaborating with students at PAL High School, and elsewhere in the community, sharing the techniques and traditions of taiko. Then they premiere “A Constant State of Otherness” on the Myrna Loy stage in an unforgettable performance.
This world premiere performance will be followed by a 5-city US tour.
