The fiber art of Bonnie Tarses, Debbie Smith, and Cindy Hanson
Three fiber artist come together at The Myrna Loy for a joyous collaborative exhibition. Fiber art has long been seen as “women’s” art. These women artists push the boundaries of technique and materials to move beyond tradition and into the conceptional realms of inspiration, ingenuity, and imagination. The unique methods of each artist come together to create an experience that is thought-provoking in an atmosphere of intention, whimsy, and beauty.
Bonnie Tarses is a renowned weaver of 60 yrs. Bonnie has created an origami hanging of 1000 cranes especially for The Myrna Loy. She will also exhibit fabulous, colorful yarn wraps along with a few surprises.
Debbie Smith’s mixed media works are a reflection of what is at her center as an artist–a core full of joy and the spirit of play.
Cindy Hanson’s knitted nests are imbued with whimsy and wonder. The nests are artful universes, filled with colorful objects found in nature.
All their pieces are affordable, accessible, touchable (after they’re yours) and fun.
Please join the artists at an opening reception Friday Aug. 12, 5:30-7:00 pm.
