ZINNIA is the unhinged art pop of Helena/Toronto’s Rachael Cardiello. Known for her tendency to go right through the heart of things, ZINNIA spins the tiny mirrors of introspection til they catch the light like disco. Divorce anthems, rebound ragers, indie ballads – this is music as a bedazzled catharsis. Guts and glory, baby.
Cardiello is known for artistic fluency, having spent years as a classical violist in Victoria, BC, decades as a music and visual art teacher, and fourteen years as a session player in Toronto recording and touring with bands across North America and Europe on synth/viola/vocals. Hooked on the alchemy of collaboration, ZINNIA’s music has been an ever-changing tapestry of arrangements and musicians, dancers, videographers, and artists at large.
