Acclaimed saxophonist, Benjamin Deschamps, and his jazz band received a warm welcome from Duane Zehr’s band class at Capital High School on Thursday, April 18th. Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Benjamin Deschamps and his band members played a few jazz numbers for Mr. Zehr’s students whose faces lit up as they thoroughly enjoyed groovin’ to the band’s smooth rhythms.
Students asked impressive questions, and it was evident that they were greatly inspired by this chance to interact in person with other jazz players who had made it into the professional world of music-making. Mr. Zehr commented that “having a chance to see musicians live and engage with them on a personal level is such a game-changer for my students!”
