The artists from Letters Aloud spent Thursday morning with students from Capital High School’s drama department, presenting an excerpt from their show “Fame” and inviting student actors to step into a few of the roles. The students especially loved hearing the letter written by a young Tom Hanks. The performance sparked a dialogue among the students and professional actors present about the difference between acting as a character and reading an actual person’s real words.
Sophomore Natalie Renk, pictured above, stepped into the role of narrator during the presentation. When asked about the workshop, she described the experience as “epic.”
